Boar bristles. Slightly tough but good for loading up the soap from the soap puck after a warm bathe in warm water. No piggy smell encountered that I read from other sites reviews. Does gentle exfoliation to prime the skin for the blades. Handle is plastic coated with chrome skin. Not metal. Good brush overall.
Am a beginner. 1st shavette of my foray into wet shaving. Delighted to own this product. Not too heavy. Chrome finish is nice. Simple mechanics to fit the half blade into the shavette. 30 degree angle of blade to face is key to not getting nicks and cuts. And most importantly, apply preshave and give a good coat of shave soap before each pass.
